Congratulations to East Caln Township on the adoption of their Official Map Update. On September 21, 2016, the East Caln Township Board of Supervisors voted to adopt the revised Official Map, which had not been updated since 1993. East Caln Township has been involved in the Brandywine Greenway Plan and the Central Chester County Bicycle and Pedestrian Circulation Plan. Recommendations from these planning documents include updating the Official Map to identify bike lanes, shared roadways, trails and walking paths, and crosswalks. By updating the Official Map to include these features, local and regional connections can be made in the future as proposed in these plans.

The East Caln Township Official Map is a combined map and ordinance designed to implement the goals and community vision set forth in the Township’s Comprehensive Plan (2012), as well as other regional planning documents.

An official map is a flexible tool that allows the municipality and the owner of land reserved on the official map the ability to negotiate a mutually acceptable final product. Used in conjunction with zoning and subdivision and land development ordinances, the official map provides municipal officials with greater flexibility and negotiation power in the land development process.

In addition to the preparation of the adopted Official Map, Boucher & James, Inc. assisted the Township in obtaining a grant from the Chester County Vision Partnership Program to complete this project. Boucher & James, Inc. would be happy to offer these similar services to your municipality.
